Labor unions created Labor Day, now in its 125th year as a federal holiday, to celebrate the contribution that workers make to our country. Often at great risk, union members have joined together and laid their lives on the line to fight for justice and dignity in the workplace.

Despite its setbacks, or perhaps because of them, organized labor has an energy level that AFL-CIO president Richard Trumka says he hasn’t seen before in his 50 years with the movement.

Texas AFL-CIO President Rick Levy and Secretary-Treasurer Montserrat Garibay issued the following statement condemning an amicus brief filed on behalf of Texas and other states by Attorney General Ken Paxton against the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program:

I had done a complete 180 on unions.
