The Texas AFL-CIO called on the White House to end the unconscionable detention of children who have been taken from their parents in the name of immigration enforcement.

“Tearing children from parents’ arms as a bargaining chip to fund a border wall and pass other misguided immigration priorities is unacceptable,” Texas AFL-CIO President Rick Levy said. “We have ‘zero tolerance’ for making Texas a headquarters for child detention centers. The law does not require it and working Texans will not stand for it.”

“Lawmakers must know that this is not just about one vote in Congress. It is about the record of your lives and where you stood at one of the low points in our nation’s history.”
