Cuellar Not On Working People's Side

Texas AFL-CIO President Rick Levy said today news that the U.S. Chamber of Commerce made a major TV ad buy to prop up U.S. Rep. Henry Cuellar only reinforces why working families in Congressional District 28 endorsed Jessica Cisneros in the March 3 Democratic primary.

"A Texas Tribune report states the U.S. Chamber's entry into the race is unprecedented," Levy said, "and that news also provides unprecedented clarity on Cuellar's record."

"The Texas AFL-CIO COPE endorsed Jessica Cisneros because she understands that CD 28 needs the opposite of President Trump's corporate agenda."

"The Chamber of Commerce reports Cuellar has an 85 percent lifetime voting record on its issues," Levy said. "Even worse, the website fivethirtyeight.com calculates that Cuellar votes with President Trump more than any other Democrat in the entire U.S. House."

"Voters in CD 28 need their representative in Congress to match up with their hopes and aspirations, not function as Donald Trump's favorite Democrat."
