Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador has met with the head of the largest U.S. labor group, the AFL-CIO.

Lopez Obrador’s office said Wednesday he promised AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka that Mexico will enforce new, stricter labor laws. He also called for ratification of the U.S.-Mexico-Canada free trade agreement.

President Trump took to Twitter on Labor Day to attack AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka, slamming him for his criticism of Trump’s trade deals. The AFL-CIO is the country’s largest coalition of more than 50 major unions and represents some 12.5 million American workers, from pilots to teachers.

Presidential candidates are going all out to win over working-class Americans.

The Dallas AFL-CIO encourages joining with the Texas State Employees Union (TSEU-CWA) in demanding justice after being cut from the budget by the last Texas legislative session.

The Dallas AFL-CIO just had its best Labor Day breakfast ever! Jason Tomlinson, who worked with Lewis Fulbright to make the entire event happen, said that we had sold every ticket! The longest part of the agenda was when Texas AFL-CIO political expert Jeff Rotkoff read off the names of the political leaders in the room!

Despite its setbacks, or perhaps because of them, organized labor has an energy level that AFL-CIO president Richard Trumka says he hasn’t seen before in his 50 years with the movement.

Labor Day 2019 will be stronger than ever in North Texas. Not only will union activists gather in unprecedented numbers, but they will be joined by solid friends from churches, civil rights organizations, and community groups. We are working together to confront the crisis and make a better world for working families.

The first of several festivities will be the barbecue at the Texas State Employees Union headquarters,  11:30 AM – 4 PM on Saturday, August 24 at 737 South R.L. Thornton Fwy in  Dallas.
