Dallas AFL-CIO will hold our International Workers Day celebration on May 13, the Saturday after the local elections. Join us at 10AM at the American Postal Workers Union Hall, 2010 Postal Way in West Dallas. Progressive individuals and organizations are encouraged to co-sponsor or get a table for $100. Checks go to "Dallas AFL-CIO" at 1408 N Washington #240, Dallas Tx 75204. On-line payments are convenient.

The Steelworkers will be offering a big cash prize for a talent show during the picnic. All unions are looking for people who sing, dance, play an instrument, read poetry or make any other artistic presentation. Contact Lou Luckhardt at lluckhardt.dallasaflcio@gmail.com.

Judy Bryant, the "Constituency Group" representative on the Dallas AFL-CIO Exec, will be strengthening labor with an on-line activists' meeting at 4PM on Sunday, April 16. We are especially looking for civil rights activists for the Labor Committee for Latin American Advancement and the A. Phillip Randolph Institute. Register here.

Labor supporters are planning to reach out to low-paid workers during the afternoon and early evening of May 1. Like younger people around the world, they are organizing on their phones with the Telegram platform. Join the organizing discussion here.  Labor needs all the friends we can find. You can help by looking for gigs for labor's speakers.

Elections are Vital for Working Families

Labor's retirees are already voting by mail for the May 6 elections. Volunteers are working to make sure that our best candidates win. Contact Jtomlinson.dallasaflcio@gmail.com to help. Communications Workers Local 6215 and the Texas Alliance for Retired Americans are co-sponsoring a downtown rally at 10 AM on April 24 to highlight the first day of in-person early voting. If turnout is light, as expected, then our votes will have extra clout.
