Democracy Prevails!

At the AFL-CIO briefing at 11AM on Friday, November 6, Joe Biden was assured of victory with either 290 or 306 electoral votes. 270 is enough. In individual American votes, Biden prevailed by nearly four million. He received more votes than any presidential candidate in American history!

At an earlier meeting, Texas labor leaders said that we neither won nor lost in congressional and Texas Legislature races. Turnout was the best in anybody’s memory. President Rick Levy expressed his gratitude for an unprecedented electoral effort that included more than a million labor phone calls.

In Dallas, our own Mariah Warwick of IBEW Local 20 successfully led our team. We gratefully received help from national and state leaders. The Bricklayers Union in Oklahoma pitched in. Special praise goes to the Tarrant County AFL-CIO team for turning Tarrant County toward labor for the first time since Lyndon Johnson ran for President.

Any efforts to defy democracy and set aside our elections are sure to be rejected by the American people.

The runoff election might be Dec 5.  As of Oct 26, the Dallas newspaper reported that Rodriguez had been outspent $402,692 to $26,029, but she nevertheless made the runoff.
