Mark York, principal officer of the Dallas AFL-CIO, invites all of our endorsed candidates to join us in this year's Martin Luther King march.

Gerardo Contreras of UAW 848 will bring his big parade float once again so that older and disabled people can ride the 1-mile route. The parade will be held on Monday, January 15, 2018, starting from Holmes Street and MLK Jr. Blvd. promptly at 10:00am. Line-up for the parade will start at 8:00am. Political Director Lorraine Montemayor will finalize our position number at a January 11 meeting. All union supporters are encouraged to join us. All signs must be appropriate to the occasion.

Labor and civil rights activists work together because we belong together, as Dr King told the 1961 AFL-CIO convention: "Our needs are identical with labor's needs — decent wages, fair working conditions, livable housing, old age security, health and welfare measures, conditions in which families can grow, have education for their children and respect in the community. That is why Negroes support labor's demands and fight laws which curb labor. That is why the labor-hater and labor-baiter is virtually always a twin-headed creature spewing anti-Negro epithets from one mouth and anti-labor propaganda from the other mouth."
