Texas is leading America's nose dive into a worsening crisis. Millions are stirring in protest, but more questions are being generated than answers.
National and Texas State AFL-CIO are showing the way forward. Since the pandemic bit down on America, top labor leaders have shown us how to organize, how to arrive at solutions, and how to implement decisions. Informational meetings and trainings are held every work day. Priority national campaigns include passing the HEROES Act for economic relief (click: https://actionnetwork.org/forms/heroesact), and saving the post office (Dial 844-402-1001 for Senators) .
Our state federation streams a weekly news meeting at 5PM every Monday and a variety of helpful organizing events. Both national and state federations provide technical support for central labor councils and unions who are adjusting to the crisis situation.
Your Dallas AFL-CIO has redoubled organizing and information-sharing efforts. We reach thousands on radio, podcasting, print, web page, e-blasts, text, virtual meetings, and social media. We will help all local affiliates in communicating with their members.
When racial justice replaced the economic crisis as the most pressing issue in America, labor stood up. The AFL-CIO launched 600 car caravans on June 17 for economic AND racial justice! Both Dallas and Tarrant County organized caravans. The Dallas Central Labor Council on June 18 passed this motion: “Dallas AFL-CIO is in total solidarity with National AFL-CIO and the movement for racial and economic justice.”
