Health Care Reform Bill Goes to President Obama's Desk

The 219-211 vote sent the measure to President Obama's desk. Although no Republicans voted for the measure, Democratic leaders noted that the legislation contains at least 200 GOP amendments. The vote followed days of Capitol Hill "Tea Party" protests that included use of racial and other epithets against Democratic supporters of the bill.
