SB 4, the so called "Sanctuary Cities" bill, ties the hands of our communities when it comes to important local public safety decisions. This bill would make it impossible for police chiefs and sheriffs to set enforcement priorities for local officers. The bill would require jailers to interpret complicated immigration law that they literally have no training in. This package of changes would undermine community policing, drive witnesses and victims away from law enforcement, and ultimately make us less safe.

ACLU of Texas, in coordination with all of friends and partners who care about immigrants' rights, are asking our supporters to come to The Texas State Capitol for this public hearing. Wear a white t-shirt to show your solidarity with Texan immigrants! Everyone in Austin, please try to get to the Capitol on Thursday, and invite all of your friends.
